How to Apply for an ADR Test in Ireland

The ADR (Accord Dangereux Routier) certificate or ADR test, as it’s otherwise known, is an additional mandatory requirement for hazardous goods vehicles, such as those that transport fuel, explosives or dangerous chemicals.

CVRT Test Within 40 Days of ADR Testing

The first thing to know about applying for an ADR test is that the vehicle must first have passed the regular Commercial Vehicle Roadworthiness Test (CVRT) within the last 40 days. It’s also important for a DGSA (Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor) to ensure that your vehicle meets all tank codes and hazardous goods provisions.

Other things that be aware of include:

Every vehicle in your fleet needs a separate ADR test & certificate
Your application must be at least 10 working days before the inspection date to allow sufficient time for processing
All covers need to be removed on inspection day to ensure all hazard goods markings are easy to see
All documentation, including CRW certificate & other relevant paperwork, must be provided before the test
