Argent - The Trusted Name For Truck & Trailer CVRT in Dublin

If you’re operating a commercial vehicle over 3,500kg GVW with a trailer on Ireland’s roads, then you have an obligation to get a Truck & Trailer CVRT test on an annual basis. At Argent Equipment, we are the trusted name for Truck & Trailer testing in the capital, something we offer from our two Dublin-based workshops.

So, What Does Truck & Trailer Testing Involve?

When carrying out a truck & trailer test, our inspectors test every accessible and visible part of the vehicle. However, once passed, it merely ensures that you are able to travel on Ireland’s roads legally. What it doesn’t do is confer a warranty in relation to the vehicle's conditions. That’s an important stipulation to make.

As such, the following components are tested:

  • Steering & suspension

  • Chassis & underbody

  • Exhaust emissions

  • Electrical systems

  • Lights & markings

  • Wheels & tyres

  • Glass & mirrors

  • Speed limiter

  • Tachograph

  • Brakes

What Happens After Testing

After your truck and trailer test is completed, you’ll be given a report that outlines one of two possibilities; a pass or a fail. If your vehicle passes the test, your Certificate of roadworthiness (CRW) will be automatically sent to the registered owner’s address.

Conversely, in the event of a failure, your vehicle needs to undergo the necessary repairs and re-present it for testing at the same centre within 3 weeks (21 days). Within this time or the time taken to travel 4,000km - whichever is sooner.

How to Book Your Truck & Trailer Test

When 12 months have passed since your last HCV test or your new truck & trailer reaches the first anniversary of its registration, you’ll need to book yourself in for truck & trailer testing. You’ll need to do a couple of things to achieve it.

First, you need to head to www.crvt.ie and register your vehicle on their online system. During the process, you'll be asked to set a username and password that includes the last 4 digits of your VIN. Then simply choose ‘book a test’, before choosing a test centre (our centre should appear as an option if applicable).

Then you can just select the most suitable day and either opt to pay there and then or on the day of the inspection. If you’ve chosen us and we receive your request, we’ll contact you to confirm the booking. All that’s left then is the test itself.
