What Do You Need To Know About CVRT?

At Argent Equipment, we offer the full range of testing services from our Dublin workshops. From bus testing to HCV testing to ADR testing, we have the experience and skills required to ensure your commercial vehicle gets the required certification.

We want any testing services we offer to run smoothly, which is why today we look at what you need to know about Commercial Vehicle Roadworthiness Tests (CVRT). In Ireland, they apply to buses carrying more than 8 passengers, ambulances, goods vehicles & trailers with a gross vehicle weight of over 3,500 kg, vans/light commercial vehicles.

Important Facts to Know About CVRTs

It's important to be aware of all relevant information when coming to us for commercial vehicle testing, as it will ensure that no delays or inconveniences are caused.

Every commercial vehicle in Ireland requires a Certificate of Roadworthiness (CRW), and understanding the following will make things easier.

  • The person presenting needs to have their Driver's License or Passport with them.

  • Should your vehicle fail the CVRT, it must be repaired and re-tested within 21 days or before 4000km, whichever is first.

  • If a re-test isn't done within this time or mileage, a full test will be needed & a full fee.

  • A visual re-test does not cost anything, but if an equipment re-test is needed, a charge will apply. Your fail statement will contain details.

  • All CVRT pricing is set by the RSA, meaning all test centres must charge the same for this kind of service.

  • If your CVRT is successful, your CRW will be posted to the registered address of the owner within 10 days.

  • It's not necessary to bring the VLC/Logbook to the test.

If your CRW does not turn up during this time, it's possible to order a replacement by visiting www.cvrt.ie. If you have any questions not covered here, please get in touch with the Argent team, who'll be able to give you the information you need.
